The collection is born from the concept of synesthesia.
It is a sensory and neurological phenomenon that indicates a "contamination" of the senses of perception.
Vassily Kandinskij, after attending a concert by Arnold Schönberg, associated different colors to different musical instruments.
Another artist I considered, and compared to Kandinskij, is Jean-Michel Basquiat.
Both artists represent in their works figures that lead the viewers to "hear what they see".
In addition, what binds these apparently so different artists, is the concept of deconstructivism: Kandinskij carried out several studies on the theme, as the deconstruction of figures. Basquiat, appreciated designers such as Issey Miyake, Rei Kawakubo, initiators of deconstructivism in the fashion world.
After combining all the elements analyzed, this collection was born. The collection presents exaggerated shapes, which gives life to an androgynous style.
The materials alternate between technical, to other more classic.
I am Elisa Formentini, I am 23 years old and I am from Switzerland.
I was born in Lugano and I spent all my childhood in this town.
My interest in fashion design developed especially during the art high school, which I attended in Como and where I had a look to art and fashion.
I also had the opportunity to do several internships where I learned a lot, in particular about textile clothing and industry.
Then, in 2017 I decided to move to Milan to study fashion design at the NABA.
